This new series was inspired by the random patterns and colors of wet, peeling plane tree bark I saw last fall in a London city park.

Like most of my work, I started with detailed, close up photographs which I used to sketch out ideas. Ultimately, these sketches grew into large scale paintings featuring arbitrary colors and patterns that sometimes look nothing like the original.
